ASHINAGA BONSAI BASAMI SHEARS

The Ashinaga Basami shear is a basic tool for thinning and defoliating bonsai. The Standard Concave Branch Cutter ( p.3 ) and the Ashinaga shear are generally considered the two most basic Bonsai tools.

3163 STAINLESS STEEL ASHINAGA
The stainless steel construction of our 3163 Master grade Ashinaga will provide a lifetime of easy care and superior use. The blades are laminated with a center core of high carbon steel to keep a sharp edge longer than stainless would by itself. We are confident that this shear, as well as the stainless steel versions of our other bonsai tools, are the best quality available at any price.

163 PROFESSIONAL GRADE ASHINAGA
The hand forged blades on this high quality Ashinaga shear are constructed of laminated, high carbon steel for a lasting cutting edge. The finish and feel of this and our other Professional-grade bonsai tools are that of quality products.

1163 INTERMEDIATE GRADE ASHINAGA
This version is a less expensive Ashinaga shear for the serious student. Its' laminated construction and nice finish is a good compromise between cost and quality for serious enthusiasts. (See illustration above).

8163 NOVICE GRADE ASHINAGA
Our 'Joshy' line is our least expensive grade of bonsai tools. These Ashinaga shears, with their steel construction, are good, durable tools for the beginning student. (See illustration above)

SATSUKI HASAMI SHEARS

The Satsuki Hasami, with its long, narrow body, is a fine shear for trimming buds and reaching deep with minimum disturbance to the surrounding foliage. Its' finger rings are also well suited for smaller hands.

164 PROFESSIONAL GRADE
The hand forged blades on this high quality Satsuki shear are constructed of laminated, high carbon steel for a lasting cutting edge. The finish and feel of this shear is that of a quality product.

1164 INTERMEDIATE GRADE
This grade is a less expensive Satsuki shear for the serious student. The nice finish and laminated construction of its' blades are a good balance between cost and quality for intermediate-level enthusiasts. (see illustration above)

8164 NOVICE GRADE
This Satsuki shear is our least expensive 'Joshy' brand. Its' steel construction is a durable tool for the beginning student. (see illustration above).

1188/8188 KIRI HASAMI SHEARS
The Koeda Kiri shears are similar to the Satsuki, but with a narrower body and a little more length. Excellent for trimming inside dense foliage. Available in both our Intermediate and Novice lines.
